New Jersey’s upcoming single-use plastic bag ban law goes further than any other state by including paper bags.

But it’s not quite as simple as all paper bags being banned. While paper bags are banned in the stores shoppers might want them the most — mostly grocery stores — they’re still allowed in the majority of stores and businesses.
