Marvel Comics provided CBR with an exclusive preview of Punisher #6, by Jason Aaron, Jesus Saiz, Paul Azaceta, Dave Stewart and VC's Cory Petit. In the preview, Frank Castle/Punisher takes on Ares, the God of War.

At the beginning of the current run on Punisher, the Hand resurrected Castle's long-dead wife, Maria Castle, becoming the group's High Slayer in the process. Additionally, Castle seems to be developing superpowers of some sort due to his connection to the Beast. Soon, Castle decided to try and escape the Hand with Maria and soon after discovered that she was unable to leave the group's fortress. This spiraled into a confrontation with Ares and his minions, who are angry at Castle having started working with the group of villainous mystical ninja.

In Punisher #6, Castle fights with Ares and his minions, proving a fair match for them. As they're fighting, Ares says, "Show me your war face, Frank. Show me what all those years of my generous blessings have made of you. The greatest machine of warfare ever born of man!" This is part of Ares' challenging Castle to really show what he's able to do. The preview ends with an explosion after Castle uses a graviton bazooka against his foe, weapon that can shoot cars.

Based on the Greek God of the same name, Ares was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. The character first appeared in 1966's Thor #129 and has used his incredible abilities as part of such teams as the Dark Avengers. Ares has often been depicted as a villain, though he occasionally strays into anti-hero territory.

Releasing Sept. 7 from Marvel Comics, Punisher #6 features a main cover from Jesus Saiz. The next issue of the series, Punisher #7, is slated to release in November.
